Firefly Millward Brown: Social Media most envolved in Singapore

Firefly Millward Brown analysed 15 countries in terms of their social media consumption and found out that the city-state Singapore is one of the most envolved social media markets in the world.

Singapore has 5 million inhabitants, of which 1 895 000 are active users on Facebook. Every month, the population of Singapore uploads 24 hours of video material to Youtube and spends 700 billion minutes on Facebook. More than any other country in the world.

Nichola Rastrick, managing director of Millward Brown in Singapore said:

In Singapore, social media has developed beyond a form of self expression and has become a functional part of the new Singaporean lifestyle. Social media is where Singaporeans gather news, discuss social issues, arrange social gatherings, express their creativity, share family memories, create professional networks, do comparison shopping and decide what to eat, buy and collect.

Christoper Madison, the company’s regional director of digital strategy, sees the fast development as a result of the brand and internet savvy citizen of Singapore. They want to be associated with their favorite brand even on the internet.

According to Firefly Millward Brown, reasons for the high social media envolvement in Singapore are the modern technical infrastructure in place, the use of the world wide web for daily activities, and a population that wants to stay connected globally.
