On March the 3rd, 2011, Facebook counted 3.761.160 active users in South Africa. (‘Active’ means that the person in question has returned to Facebook in the last 30 days).
Most users (64 %) are between 18 and 34 years old. There are slightly more female Facebook users (51 %) than male (49 %). With the exception of users who are between 25 and 34 years old or older than 65, there are more women on Facebook than men.
Next month, we will compare the new statistics with the numbers of March to record the development of Facebook population in South Africa.
